Dickey's Barbecue Pit was found by our Second Great War veteran, Travis Dickey, in 1941. Initially, Dickey's Barbecue Pit was a family owned restaurant where Mr. and Miss Dickey did the food preparation and serving. Our menu only included potato chips, barbecue beans, pit harns, and beef brisket during their first years in the industry. But in 1967, when T.D and Roland Dickey, sons of Travis Dickey, managed the restaurant, they integrated smoked signature meats into the menu. This was when Dickey's Barbecue Pit had its first success and a significant expansion throughout the city.

Because of our mouthwatering smoked meats, Dickey's Barbecue Pit has been patronized by many locals and tourists wanting to try their specialties. Aside from its tasty menu, Dickey's Barbecue Pit is famous for hosting the Big Yellow Cups and other significant events. More than that, they also offer catering services and reward programs. When their barbecue fanatics and guests asked for expansion, our Dickey's Barbecue Pit started its franchise in 1994. Dickey's Barbecue Pit, which started small, now has over 550 branches throughout 44 different states. We are so excited to share out family recipes from our family to yours!

Despite the significant improvement in the Dickey's Barbecue Pit, there is still one thing that hasn't changed: their smoked meats and mouthwatering barbecues. Our updated menu now features a wide array of tasty dishes, including marinated chicken, smoked turkey, spicy cheddar sausage, polish sausage, fall-off-the-bone pork ribs, brisket burnt ends, and much more.
