a list of a few new eateries that will be opening up in Park Slope and Prospect
Heights in the very near future.Your
dining options include California-style Mexican, Uzbek cuisine,
southern-inspired dishes, and barbecue.
Maya Taqueria, 168
5th Avenue, 718.398.6292, Park Slope
The Prospect Heights location (637 Vanderbilt Ave) of this “no frills”
California-style tacqueria has been serving up burritos and tacos since 2010. A
second Park Slope location opens today, July 28, at 5pm on the corner of 5th
Avenue and Degraw where diners can enjoy fresh Mexican dishes made from
scratch. After today’s grand opening, the regular hours for the new location
will be 11am to midnight, 7 days a week.
Nargis Bar & Grill, 155
5th Avenue (between St Johns & Lincoln Place), Park Slope
Coming to the former Nana space on 5th Avenue is a new outpost of the popular
Sheepshead Bay Uzbek restaurant Nargis Café (2818
Coney Island Ave). The menu at the new location will be similar to the café’s
with kabobs, lagman soup (lamb, beef, veggies, and noodles), and salads made
with cabbage instead of lettuce.
A
staff member at the Sheepshead Bay location says the 5th Avenue space should be
opening in a few weeks.
Sweet Chick, 341
Flatbush Avenue (at Park Place), Prospect Heights
Opening Monday, July 31, is a third NYC location of Sweet Chick, a cool, modern
American comfort food restaurant serving up fried chicken and waffles,
southern-inspired cuisine, homemade desserts, and cocktails. Brooklyn-born,
hip-hop star Nas, is one of the restaurant’s co-owners.
Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, Flatbush
Avenue at Dean Street, Prospect Heights
Coming this fall across from the Barclays Center will be an outpost of
the Dallas-based, family-run barbecue franchise founded in 1941
by Travis Dickey. The casual restaurant slow-smokes meats on-site in a
hickory wood pit smoker at each of its 600 locations across the U.S. and serves
fresh home-style sides.
