Grubhub, an online and mobile food delivery service, has begun serving the York market.
The company, which was founded in 2004, services 1,600 cities across the United States and London with more than 80,000 restaurants registered for delivery.
The company connects diners with restaurants that supply their own drivers, or allows restaurants without their own delivery drivers to use Grubhub’s network of drivers, according to the company’s website.
Currently, Grubhub serves several areas of the county, from Springettsbury Township to West Manchester Township. Participating restaurants include Tropical Smoothie Café, Primo Hoagies, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit and several others.
Grubhub’s move into York is part of a nationwide expansion into 34 markets across 19 states.
“We’re thrilled to expand our delivery offering to these markets across the U.S., making quick progress on our plan to expand our delivery capabilities throughout the coming year,” said Stan Chia, chief operating officer for Grubhub, in a release. “These additional markets are part of our vision to connect more diners with even more of their favorite local restaurants across the country, and provide them with the widest selection of choice wherever they are.”

There’s no shortage of backyard barbecues firing up on weekends during the summertime. But when it comes to truly amazing smoked ribs, brisket, pulled pork and other mouthwatering meats, your best bet is one of the many barbecue joints around the region.
Because it’s no secret that barbecue is heating up on the dining scene. In fact, that type of cuisine increased about 8 percent from 2015 to 2017, according to Mintel Menu Insights, a database focused on foodservice research.
And it’s a trend that has definitely carried over to the Erie region, which has seen a handful of barbecue restaurants pop up in last few years. Now local foodies now have their pick of places offering high-quality meats — many of which are smoked in-house on location — and delicious sides.
 
Dickey’s Barbecue Pit
The other newest edition to Erie’s barbecue scene is Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, which opened at 3716 Liberty St. in April 2016. With more than 500 locations across the country, Dickey’s is the world’s largest barbecue franchise.
Meats are served by the pound and there’s no shortage of variety. Beyond the pulled pork and brisket staples, there are also unique offerings of jalapeño cheddar or Polish kielbasa.
When visiting, go for the “plate” option. Not only will get yourself one or two of the aforementioned meats, but also a generous helping of two sides — such as baked beans, macaroni and cheese or coleslaw — and a roll.
