Dickey’s Barbecue Pit introduces a new sandwich that will be loved by barbecue purists and adventurists alike, as long as they appreciate a kick to their Pulled Pork. The new JalapeñoCheddarSpicyPulledPorkSandwich will be available throughout the month of March.
 
The sandwich includes Dickey’s slow-smoked Pulled Pork and spicy barbecue sauce with savory cheddar cheese and jalapeños.
 
The JalapeñoCheddarSpicyPulledPorkSandwich will be available in Dickey’s Barbecue Pit locations nationwide beginning March 1 through 28.

The new JalapeñoCheddarSpicyPulledPorkSandwich consists of Dickey's slow-smoked pulled pork and spicy barbecue sauce with savory cheddar cheese and jalapeños.

The country’s largest barbecue chain has set up shop in the Dayton region with plans for more locations. Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, founded in Dallas in 1941, opened its first Miami Valley location in Springboro, near Settler’s Walk. I decided to check it out and this is what I found.&nbsp;
 
Atmosphere: Dickey’s, like all barbecue places, is a casual restaurant with wood floors, dark ceiling and plenty of wood tables, along with a long wooden booth. There’s a chalkboard illustration on a wall called the butcher’s taste guide showing which parts of the cow are which meats. Plus, each table has its paper towel roll. Ordering is done up front and then you walk the ordering line, cafeteria style. &nbsp;
 
Food: Dickey's menu covers all the barbecue staples, from brisket, ribs and pulled pork, as well as chicken breast and Polish kielbasa sausage. All of its meats are slow-smoked on-premises in hickory wood burning pits each day. I ventured for the two-meat plate ($12.79), with beef brisket and pork ribs, along with mac &amp; cheese and fried okra. The brisket was exceptional with the restaurant’s original sauce, which is flavorful and packs a little kick.&nbsp;
 
The ribs were good and meaty, while the mac &amp; cheese scored a win. The okra did not. My guest also got the two-meat plate with pulled pork and Kielbasa sausage, as well as barbecue beans and green beans. He gave an enthusiastic thumbs up to the pulled pork and green beans, but was less enamored with the others.&nbsp;
 
Overall; Dickey’s marks a nice addition to Dayton’s burgeoning barbecue scene with the likes of City Barbecue and Texas Beef and Cattle Co. I will be back to sample more of its offerings, as well as get more of that brisket.&nbsp;

Experienced restauranteurs bring nation’s largest barbecue chain to Compton Boulevard; new Dickey’s franchise owners ‘thrilled’ to bring Texas-style barbecue
COMPTON — Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, the nation’s largest barbecue chain, based in Dallas, Texas, opened locally this month filling a large void left by the departure of another hugely successful barbecue eatery.

Elton and Denise Anderson are the new franchise owners of Dickey’s located at 116 E. Compton Blvd. [MAP] They opened their doors with gracious hospitality offering barbecue lovers four weeks of specials and giveaways, including free barbecue for a year for three lucky guests.
The Andersons bring 12 years of restaurant experience to the Dickey’s Barbecue Pit family. After looking for new franchising opportunities, Elton said he and his wife and business partner Denise, fell in love with Dickey’s delicious, slow-smoked barbecue and energized concept.
“Texas-style barbecue is something that we [did not] have in our area and we are thrilled to be the ones to serve Dickey’s barbecue to those in Compton,” Elton said.
Originally from Belize, Elton, who moved to California and after years of work in the IT world, decided to break into the restaurant industry with Wing Stop as his first franchising concept. After making California a home, he and Denise decided to bring Dickey’s Barbecue Pit to the residents of the Compton community.
Laura Rea Dickey, CEO of Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc., expressed great expectations for the operation in Compton.
“We are thrilled to have these experienced franchisees open their new location in Compton and look forward to their success,” she said. “At Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, we pride ourselves on serving our communities authentic, Texas-style barbecue which can only be done with amazing franchisees such as Elton and Denise Anderson.”
Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. was founded in 1941 by Travis Dickey. The Dallas-based family-run barbecue franchise offers several slow-smoked meats and homestyle sides. All meats are slow smoked on-site in each restaurant. The fast-casual concept has expanded to more than 550 locations in 44 states.

Local businessmen Dan and Luke McKinnon plan to bring two Dickey’s Barbecue Pit locations to their hometown of Muskegon in 2018. The first location is slated to open in May with the second following in late 2018.
Dan McKinnon has been in business for himself for over 25 years, owning local businesses GH Imaging and Printing, Glo Sun and Shades and Village Manor of Ludington. Dickey’s Barbecue Pit will be the McKinnon’s first restaurant venture.
“Dickey’s Barbecue Pit has been and always will be a family-run, family-oriented business and that is something we pride ourselves on,” says Laura Rea Dickey, CEO of Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. “Having a family of experienced entrepreneurs eager to break into the restaurant industry is an exciting and rewarding thing and we look forward to the success Dan and Luke will have with Dickey’s.”
Dan and Luke will be opening both Dickey’s locations together with Luke handling the day-to-day operations of the stores. They both have a passion for slow-smoked barbecue and enjoy partnering on new businesses that bring joy to the community they consider family.

Cal State San Bernardino has gotten its own Dickey’s Barbecue Pit.
Franchisee Mike Gebrael opened the restaurant Thursday, Feb. 15, at 1725 Northpark Blvd. He said in a phone interview that students can walk across the street from campus.
Dickey’s, a Texas chain founded in 1941, has been growing in Southern California and already had locations along the 210 Freeway in Highland, Fontana and Upland.
It specializes in plates laden with smoked meats such as pulled pork, pork ribs, beef brisket, chicken breast and kielbasa. Sides include baked beans, cabbage slaw, potato salad, Texas toast and corn muffins.
Dickey’s also serves Smoke Stacks such as Texas Frito Pie.
Meals usually cost a little more than a 10-spot, but Gebrael said he is planning to continue the opening celebration with a month of promotions.
